Chelsea have missed out on Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine is on the verge of becoming an AC Milan player.
Higuain’s most prolific period of his career has come in Italy. It comes as no surprise that he’s keen to stay put in Serie A.
He did have a historic campaign under Maurizio Sarri at Napoli, though. It’s been rumoured that the pair could reunite at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Sarri needs a new striker. Alvaro Morata’s performance on Wednesday night reinforced that fact. Higuain has been mentioned as a potential target.
Chelsea don’t appear to have been interested in getting the deal done. He’s in his thirties, meaning we could only offer him a one-year rolling contract.
As a result, he’s agreed to sign for Juventus’ rivals AC Milan, as part of a deal which will see Leonardo Bonucci to return to Turin.
Higuain is quoted by Standard Sport confirming his impending move to the San Siro:
“[On Thursday] I’ll do the visit (medical) and then I hope to sign… We hope to go as far as possible.”
Another one bites the dust!
