Chelsea to complete £50m deal this week – report

The deadline for summer transfers is drawing closer.

Chelsea is still actively seeking new players, and the Blues are hoping to add at least two more defenders and forwards this summer.

According to multiple reports, Chelsea’s move for Everton forward Anthony Gordon may be sealed this week.

Chelsea have seen a £40m offer rejected by Everton for Gordon, with the Toffees wanting nothing less than £50m for their academy product.

Chelsea are reportedly keen on triggering a £50m deal for Gordon this week to boost Thomas Tuchel’s attacking options.

Everton manager Frank Lampard has explained why Chelsea may have to break a transfer record for Gordon.

“It has to be a joined-up say so,” said Lampard.

“When you’re talking about the level of player Anthony is and the value of the player, we know what those kind of players go for in the modern day if there was ever to be these sort of transfers.

“It’s a serious situation on a football level and a club business level, simple as that. If you can join those two up and make the right decision, I will always consider the football one the most important because that is what my job will be judged on. Anthony Gordon is a fantastic player for us and that is why my answer is what it is.”
