Chelsea will face battle to retain services of £130,000-a-week midfielder

Chelsea’s Jorginho is happy at Stamford Bridge but a return to Serie A might be on the cards at some point, according to his entourage.

The midfielder was linked with a transfer away in the summer but opted to stay and fight for his spot at the club, a decision that has largely paid off with the star getting plenty of game time under Frank Lampard this campaign.

Jorginho have racked up 17 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea so far this term and it seems a move away from Stamford Bridge is not something he or Chelsea are considering this month.

The midfielder’s representative Joao Santos told the Mirror: “It was a great year for Jorge, he did very well in the national team as well.

“Next year there will be the European Championship, where he hopes to do very well with Italy.

“As for Chelsea, they are not very well-placed in the table now, but being a young team, it takes time.

“Jorge is a Chelsea player and he is very happy there, but I wouldn’t rule out a return to Italy in future.”

That all sounds like good news for the Blues, apart from the very last line, which suggests a return to Serie A is on the cards for Jorginho at some point.

Though, that may not be completely surprising, particularly considering Chelsea are being linked with bolstering the holding midfield position either this January or in the summer with the possible signing of former player Declan Rice.
