CONFIRMED: 19 Chelsea first team players were called on international duty
The international break is here upon us again, as the players travel to play for their national teams, and for many, this is something of pride.
For the final international break of the year, 15 of Frank Lampard’s first team players were called to represent their national teams.
Mateo Kovacic got a call for Croatia for their friendly away to Turkey on Wednesday, Nations League fixtures away to Sweden on Saturday and at home to Portugal next Tuesday.
Andreas Christensen was also called up to the Denmark squad, for their friendly at home to Sweden on Wednesday, Nations League fixtures at home to Iceland on Sunday and away to Belgium next Wednesday. Four Chelsea players were called up to the Three Lions squad, as Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Mason Mount made Gareth Southgate’s squad for the friendly at home to Ireland on Thursday, Nations League fixtures away to Belgium on Sunday and at home to Iceland next Wednesday. For Reece James, he is suspended for the two Nations League fixtures and will only feature in the friendly game.
Christian Pulisic who is only just returning from a short-term injury was called by Gregg Berhalter for USA’s friendlies away to Wales on Thursday, and in Vienna against Panama on Monday.
Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner got Germany call-ups for the friendly games at home to Czech Republic on Wednesday, Nations League fixtures at home to Ukraine on Saturday and away to Spain next Tuesday. Kai Havertz is missing after testing positive to Covid-19.
Olivier Giroud, N’Golo Kante and Kurt Zouma made France squad for the friendly game at home to Finland on Wednesday, Nations League fixtures away to Portugal on Saturday and at home to Sweden next Tuesday.
Two Chelsea players made Italy’s squad, as Emerson Palmieri and Jorginho were called up for the friendly at home to Estonia on Wednesday, Nations League fixtures at home to Poland on Sunday and away to Bosnia and Herzegovina next Wednesday.
