CONFIRMED: Another Highly-rated Chelsea player leaves club on loan

The official Chelsea website has confirmed that striker Izzy Brown will spend next season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday.

It will be a second successive year, the 23-year-old will be in the Championship, having helped Luton Town retain their league status last term with a string of impressive displays and a team-high eight assists. The Hatters finished 19th, three places and three points clear of danger.

Brown joined Chelsea in the summer of 2013 under Jose Mourinho, as Chelsea signed the youngster from West Brom at the age of 16. Brown was highly rated at West Brom, and the Baggers fans were angered when Chelsea signed him up.

Brown captained the Chelsea Under-19s side to UEFA Youth League glory in 2014/15, scoring a brace in the final against Shakhtar Donetsk, and he was also part of the Under-18s team which lifted the FA Youth Cup, netting in the second leg of our final win over Manchester City.

The forward made his senior debut against his former club in the penultimate Premier League game of the 2014/15 campaign and then embarked on a maiden loan to Vitesse the following season, where he made 24 appearances.

Brown has had loan spells at Rotherham and Huddersfield. Injuries hampered subsequent loans at Premier League Brighton and then Leeds but Brown re-established his fitness and form at Kenilworth Road in 2019/20, playing 28 times and contributing to nine goals.

Brown was highly rated as a teenager and has shown glimpses of what he can do, but he has found it very difficult hit it at the top.
