Confirmed! Chelsea announce new coaches
Chelsea have appointed some new coaches for the youth team.
According to latest reports, Mark Robinson has been appointed as the head coach of Chelsea’s development squad.
Robinson, who has a strong reputation in the young game, spent the majority of his coaching career with AFC Wimbledon, serving as head of the club’s academy and youth team coach before taking over as manager of the senior side for 14 months.
This summer, the club also hired Andy Myers, a former defender, as a loan player technical coach.
Myers has coached in our young development program for over a decade, starting with the Under-15s and progressing to the Under-21s and Under-19s. In 2013/14, he was part of the backroom staff that helped the Under-21s win the league title and win consecutive UEFA Youth League titles.
However, Head of youth development Neil Bath said of the appointment of Mark Robinson: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark to the club. He has vast experience across youth development and the senior game, which will enable the Academy to continue to develop players for the professional game.
“We are confident that Mark will fit into our way of working and that he will add great value to the development of our players both individually and as a team. We look forward to Mark starting work in pre-season.”
