CONFIRMED: Chelsea star to miss Champions League clash against Sevilla
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will miss the Blues’ opening Champions League game against Sevilla on Tuesday.
Mendy suffered a thigh injury in training while on international duty with Senegal and Kepa Arrizabalaga deputised for the 28-year-old in Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
Chelsea fans hoping for Mendy’s quick return following Kepa’s error in the draw against Southampton will be disappointed after Lampard revealed the 28-year-old will not be fit for another week or two.
Lampard said: “Mendy is at the minute injured and probably will be fit in the next week or two weeks and then that will be the decision for me to make about who plays.”
