Coutinho or Kai Havertz? Former Chelsea defender reveals the best player Lampard should sign

After Eden Hazard depart from Stamford Bridge the Blues have been hungry for his replacement and still searching for the right player to fill his space.

However, Chelsea have been linked with two talented attacking midfielders in Philippe Coutinho and Kai Havertz.

Coutinho who’s currently on loan with Bayern Munich has struggled to impress since leaving Liverpool. The Brazilian initially struggled after a big money move to Barcelona, and is now being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has been critical of the club’s decision to go for Coutinho, and would rather the club make a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s wonderkid Kai Havertz.

When asked if he has been impressed by Havertz’s recent performances, former Blues centre-back Leboeuf told ESPN FC: “Yes. I like his maturity on the field, he looks like someone who is 30 and knows exactly what he has to do and when he has to do it.

“The goal he scored was very clever, between the goalkeeper’s legs. He’s the master orchestrator of that team and I talked about him last week and I said that’s a player that I would hire for sure.

“When we were talking Chelsea about Coutinho, when you see that player [Havertz], he should be in the Premier League very soon. “He should be because he’s a very, very talented player.”
