Deal completed: Chelsea confirms player’s transfer
Nathan Baxter, a goalie for Chelsea, has been re-signed by Hull City on a season-long loan.
The 23-year-old played 18 times across all competitions for the team last season while on loan with Hull.
The Chelsea youth product has signed a loan agreement with Hull, although the transfer fee involved is still unknown.
At the age of 8, Baxter joined Chelsea, but has yet to play a single game for the Chelsea senior side.
His ninth loan assignment since 2016 may be his last as a Chelsea player because Hull can now sign him on a long-term basis.
Before making the jump to the first squad in 2016, the teenager spent ten years in the Blues’ academy system. Former Chelsea goalkeeping scout Christophe Lollichon had previously stated that he thought Nathan Baxter, 23, had Premier League caliber.
“I was assigned to the Loan Department (at Chelsea), an extremely efficient department at Chelsea at the goalkeeper level,” he said.
“The idea was that the young goalkeepers, rather than playing reserve matches, go and get tougher in ‘men’s games’, men’s matches.
“There have been very interesting loans, in particular a boy, undoubtedly the best example, Nathan Baxter. He started on loan at 17 and a half in the sixth division (at Metropolitan Police FC).
“This year, he has shown he was already a Championship keeper (at Hull City) and it has been five years.
“He presumably has Premier League potential. I wish him nothing but happiness.”
