Deal on: Chelsea confident of completing deal for 31-goals world-class striker

According to ESPN via Daily Star, Chelsea are confident of signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer.

Liverpool were leading the race for the striker but due to the financial implications of the coronavirus, Jurgen Klopp’s side are now reluctant to pay his release clause of £49 million.

The 24 year old German international has been in superb form this season and scored his 25th Bundesliga goal of the season as RB Leipzig beat Cologne 4-2 on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will reportedly back Chelsea boss Frank Lampard in his pursuit of Werner this summer.

The Russian billionaire wants the club to sign two marquee players this summer.
