Deal On: Chelsea given 12 days to sign 75-goals hitman

The Chase is really on and the Blues are on the run to sign Timo Werner. However, Yesterday it was reported by ESPN that Chelsea have joined the chase to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who has largely been expected to be heading to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side remain interested of course as the report states, but Chelsea could rival them for the German international.

Then there was a second reliable source, Matt Law of The Telegraph, that confirmed Chelsea’s interest in triggering Werner’s £53 million release clause.

As he explains, the release clause expires on June the 15th, giving Chelsea just 12 days to trigger it if they wish to.

If they don’t, then they will have to wait 12 months until his next release clause of £36 million comes in to play.

As a result of this, Chelsea may look to negotiate a lower fee with Leipzig in the hope they will not want to take the risk of losing Werner for £36 million in 12 months time.
