Chelsea have received a massive boost in signing David Alaba with the Austrian said to be reluctant to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich.
The Austria international has spent his entire career with the Bavarian giants and his future has come into question with his contract expiring in 12 months’ time.
According to The Mirror, Bayern have yet to negotiate a contract extension with the versatile defender and that could contribute to his departure at the end of the season.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has previously acknowledged that the club don’t want to lose any player on a free transfer and it is claimed that Alaba could be available for around £30m this summer.
Aside from Alaba, Thiago Alcantara and Jerome Boateng could also head for the Bayern exit door in the coming months as they are yet to sign new deals beyond June 2021.
Thiago has already declined the option of a renewal and he has been fancied to make the switch to Liverpool. Similar to Alaba, Bayern are looking for around £30m to sanction the midfielder’s sale.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard’s side are on the search for a new centre-back and left-back. Alaba is one of the targets as he is capable of comfortably filling into both positions.
