“Decision made”- Lampard wants key Chelsea player to leave club in coming weeks despite top four finish

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already made the decision to sell Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer after he dropped the Spaniard for the game against Wolves.

This is according to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, who is also Lampard’s cousin.

Speaking ahead of kick-off at Stamford Bridge, Redknapp said: “I am not surprised. It’ll be a big decision for the press but I’m not surprised.

“He has conceded a lot of goals and doesn’t make enough saves. Frank Lampard probably feels that Caballero, with the form that he’s been in in the cup games, probably deserves the opportunity […] He’s never really let him down.”

When asked if this the end of the road for Kepa at Chelsea, Redknapp added: “Possibly. I am sure Lampard will be looking in pre-season trying to get a new goalkeeper in because he’s not sure [about Kepa].

“You don’t do that to your No 1 goalkeeper. If you are sure about your goalkeeper, he starts every game. “So Frank doesn’t think he is the right man, and he doesn’t make enough big saves. If there is someone available in the summer, I’ve got no doubt at all that he will try and bring him in.

“But it isn’t that easy to find good goalkeepers. Kepa cost £75million and he hasn’t been a success. Maybe his size has worked against him in this league and just not making big saves at the right time.

“Once a goalkeeper loses their confidence, it’s a long way back. It looks like there might be some difficult times ahead for him and they might not be at Chelsea.”
