Defender turns down contract ahead of summer move to join Lampard at Chelsea?

Chelsea have been given a huge transfer boost after target Alex Telles turned down a new Porto contract.

Frank Lampard knows that he needs to improve the side if he wants to get back inside the top four and then push on to challenge for a Premier League title and Champions League crown.

And one area of concern for the Blues is the defence, as it is not good enough to challenge the big boys in Europe, so Lampard is reportedly keen to sort that issues out with the possible signing of Telles, who has been very impressive for Porto over the last few seasons.

Portuguese outlet claim Porto are ready to sell their star defender this summer in order to avoid losing him for free at the end of the 2020/21 campaign, and the report goes on to suggest that Chelsea are now ready to make their move.

This stance has been influenced by the departures of Ivan Marcano (in 2018 before his subsequent return), Hector Herrera and Yacine Brahimi for nothing in recent seasons, and the Primeira Liga giants are therefore looking to cash in on the left-back, who has attracted attention from Juventus as well as Chelsea in previous windows.

Look, we all know that Chelsea do need to improve that back-line and sign the players that will make a real difference to the squad, but look, Wold class players is needed Lampard! Telles is a very decent player that is a great attacking threat, but his defending has been questioned on numerous occasions.

Porto may be willing to sell, Chelsea may be willing to get a deal done, and he may fancy that big move to the Premier League, but would he seriously be any better than the curren left-backs already at Stamford Bridge?
