“Derby war”- Lampard reveals why he feels sorry for Mourinho ahead Tottenham clash
Frank Lampard has a slight advantage ahead of Sunday’s derby game against Tottenham, with the Blues having a 48-hour advantage before facing Spurs.
Chelsea will play their Champions League tie in Tuesday evening, whereas Tottenham will play their Europa League game on Thursday, before Sunday’s crucial game.
Both sides are placed 1st and 3rd respectively, and Sunday’s game will be a huge one in the race for the Premier League title.
Frank Lampard has however revealed that he feels sympathy for his former boss who’s now in charge of Tottenham.
Asked if he felt a level of solidarity with his former manager, Lampard said: “Yes. I’m not sure what team Jose can pick for Thursday.
“He’s got a strong squad and he can make rotations. But if you’re not going to get up ready to attack a London derby, then you shouldn’t be in this game.”
Lampard had better not feel sorry Jose, as the last time he did, he was sent packing from the Carabao Cup, with Tottenham having only a day’s rest before their Europa League tie.
