‘Do you know?’ – Rio Ferdinand reveals what Frank Lampard told him about £105k-a-week Chelsea player

Everton boss Frank Lampard, who’s recently returned to management a year on from his Chelsea sacking, was the man who helped persuade Silva move to Stamford Bridge in 2020.

However, Rio Ferdinand has shared some inside information Frank Lampard told him about Chelsea’s Thiago Silva.

Silva even explained he held a really positive phone conversation with then-Chelsea manager Lampard before his transfer.

Silva, 37, is performing at a world-class level even at his age.

The £105,000-a-week centre-half is an ever-present in Thomas Tuchel’s XI and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Ferdinand has said Lampard told him the Brazilian defender is so committed in training and wants to be a part of everything. It’s no surprise to hear he’s the ultimate professional when he’s still bossing games as a 37-year-old.

Ferdinand explained: “Do you know what I’ve heard about him as well when Frank has told me about him when he first got him, he said: ‘Rio, he’s on everything. When we’re doing the tactics for the team, he wants to know what’s going on. He’s got a translator sometimes he doesn’t understand English perfectly. He wants to know. He wants to understand everything. He puts his input into it like a proper football man’.” He said.
