German giants Borussia Dortmund fear they will lose talented defender Nnamdi Collins with Chelsea favourites to lure him at Stamford Bridge.
The 16-year-old defender, who is yet to make his professional debut for German giants, is regarded as one of the outstanding young talents across German youth football. He already captains the national team at U-16 side and is on the radar of a host of European teams, with Man City and Chelsea both keen to lure him to the English top-tier.
According to German newspaper Bild, it is the West London club who are front of the queue to secure the services of Collins and have already put together a transfer package for German giants Dortmund worth around €2million (£1.75m).
Collins has only one year left on his current deal and the German giants may be reluctantly forced to cash in if the talented defender cannot be persuaded to extend his current deal.
They are doing everything possible to convince him to turn down Chelsea’s interest, though, with sporting director Michael Zorc have been in talks.
The Dortmund chief has promised to immediately bump Collins up to the Under-19 team while he will also take part in regular training with the first-team squad, having already been involved a few times.
However, the Blues have put forward an attractive contract offer of their own and believe he can be a leading defender in the future, having kept close tabs on him for the past three years. Collins, who joined German giants at the age of 12 from Fortuna Dusseldorf has managed to score four goals for Dortmund’s Under-16s this past season.
