Eden Hazard Explains What He Doesn’t Like About Kante’s New Role

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been asked to play a new role under new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri.

Kante is being deployed in an advanced midfield position, while Jorginho plays deep in midfield and controls the game from there.

There have been arguments that Kante isn’t suited to his new position and that we are yet to see the best of the France international in his current role this season.

However, Sarri has insisted that he will continue to play Kante higher up in midfield, insisting that he wants a more creative midfielder to start the attack from deep.

Kante looked a different player in his new role and was one of the best players against Manchester City, and even scored the first goal that spurred the team to go on and win the game 2-0.

Eden Hazard admits that Kante’s lack of creativity is one drawback in the new role, but has revealed that Sarri is working with the midfielder to help him adapt. Hazard believes Kante is intelligent enough to adapt to the new role.

“I think Kante is happy to play anywhere. Even goalkeeper, he would be happy,” Hazard told RMC when asked about the Frenchman’s new role.

“Before, [Claudio] Ranieri and [Antonio] Conte asked from him different things. Now Sarri asks for something else from him.

“N’Golo is known as someone who recovers possession. He is not the best game creator, N’Golo has less of that in his blood.

“But he talks with Sarri in training; he sees very well what the coach expects from him. He is intelligent on the field, he will adapt to all situations.”
