“End his Chelsea career now”, “Don’t disrespect our club” – Chelsea fans shocked with what Chelsea man did after Manchester United defeat

Chelsea fans have claimed that Ian Maatsen’s career could be close to the end of his time at the club.

The left-back is unhappy at the lack of game time he is receiving under coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Maatsen, who has not even signed a new deal with the club despite months of negotiations, is in hot water.

When United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat posted on social media after his side’s win over Chelsea, few expected Maatsen to respond.

However, he did appear to add a ‘fire emoji’ and a ‘saluting emoji’ in response to Amrabat stating: “Great spirit and great performance! Thanks for the amazing support.”

Many fans on social media have said that such a mistake may cause Maatsen to lose his Stamford Bridge career.

“Safe to say Ian Maatsen’s career at Chelsea is now over,” one Chelsea supporter fumed on X, formerly Twitter.

One fan tried to give the 21-year-old the benefit of the doubt. “It must be a mistake from Ian Maatsen or his social media team, surely, as I’m hoping players read the room in situations like this and stay away from stuff like this.”

Maatsen may already be skating on thin ice without the help of his social media antics. The Dutchman hasn’t started any of Chelsea’s 15 league games this season, and the club were reportedly keen to offload him to Burnley over the summer on a loan with an option to buy for £31.5m.

Maatsen chose to stay at Stamford Bridge, but he’s yet to show that that was the right decision.
