EPL: Confirmed, Chelsea to do this ONE deal in January
Chelsea were one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the last summer transfer window, spending about £200 million on the recruitment of players.
It is expected that they will take the back seat in the January transfer window, especially as they are currently in good form and producing positive results but that might not happen in the real sense of it.
However, the Blues might not necessarily bring in a player but they seem sure to sanction a sale with French striker Olivier Giroud making it clear that he wants to leave in the January winter transfer window.
This is not the first time the former Arsenal player will be making moves to leave Stamford Bridge as he also made such an effort in the last January window after he failed to make Frank Lampard’s team but it did not happen.
However, Chelsea must begin to find a replacement for the World Cup winner as they will have Tammy Abraham as the pony natural striker to rely on. The presence of Timo Werner in Chelsea has helped to strengthen the attack but that does not mean a new striker will not be signed should Oliver Giroud leaves the club in January.
Frank Lampard seems to be a big fan of the 34-yer-old after showing praise on his last week.
“He has given a typically great response to train as well as possible and support the group,” he said. “He is amazing around the group and that is just a fact with Oli and maybe not a fact with people all around the team.
“I can’t speak highly enough of him on that side. It is part of my job I don’t like with good players, top people who are around the group that don’t always play. But I have those issues” he said.
Oliver Giroud would be remembered for scoring eight goals in the final 13 league games to help Chelsea secure a top-four finish.
