‘Everything ready’ for 310-goal striker’s move to Stamford Bridge – report
Chelsea are “advancing” with talks over a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
Phillips believes the Blues are getting closer to bringing the 33-year-old back to the Premier League as the former Arsenal star has emerged as Thomas Tuchel’s top striker target this transfer season.
Aubameyang only left the Gunners in January, but given Barcelona’s financial difficulties and the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the Nou Camp, it’s possible that he will return to English football soon.
The Catalan club is “open” to selling Aubameyang, who is worth £21 million, due to concerns about Financial Fair Play.
On Saturday, Aubameyang started off the bench against Rayo Vallecano, but Lewandowski’s arrival is likely to cut down on his playing time, which could result in his leaving before the deadline of September 1.
Phillips thinks Chelsea persuaded Aubameyang to transfer to Stamford Bridge because the striker was eager to reunite with Tuchel after their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’ve been told this afternoon that this one is really advancing over the course of today. Chelsea have been in talks with his agent all week.
“Those talks have been positive after Aubameyang initially wasn’t so sure, but now he is.
“He’s quite keen on rekindling with Tuchel and playing for Chelsea, coming back to London, he’s still got his house here and therefore everything is ready to go.”
