Chelsea were beaten by Tottenham in the Carabao Cup fourth round tie, as Spurs won the game 5-4 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea’s penalties were converted by Tammy Abraham, Cesar Azpilicueta, Emerson and Jorginho, while Mason Mount missed the fifth kick, with Spurs scoring all of theirs.
It was a surprise to see that Timo Werner didn’t take any of the kick, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard explained after the game, that the new signing opted not to take because of a cramp he suffered.
“We spoke to the players,” said Lampard after the game.
“You work on penalties and try and have a plan but it’s very difficult to know.
“Timo had some cramp at the end and Timo would have probably taken one so we had to adjust around that.”
