According to METRO, RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann has finally confirmed Timo Werner will leave the club, with Chelsea expected to complete a deal for the striker.
However, Liverpool had been leading the race to sign the 24-year-old, who had even held talks with Jurgen Klopp over a potential move to Anfield.
But Chelsea have moved ahead of the Premier League leaders in the race to sign Werner as they are closing in on a £53 million move.
The Germany international has already agreed a switch to Stamford Bridge and is reportedly given the green light to a contract worth £170,000 a week.
Nagelsmann’s recent statement also appears to confirm that Werner’s move to Chelsea is all but complete ahead of the summer transfer window.
When asked about Werner’s future before RB Leipzig’s 2-0 win over Hoffenheim on Friday evening, Nagelsmann told DAZN: ‘I do not expect Timo to be here next season.’ he’s leaving us!
