Football legends reveals why Gilmour can be better than Jorginho

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho had initially struggled to make it in the Premier League under Maurizio Sarri when he joined the club last season.

Jorginho impressed towards the end of last season under Sarri, and started out fine with Frank Lampard this season. His early season form has dropped off and Chelsea need a bit of strengthening in midfield.

Surprisingly, Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour can be the strength Chelsea need in midfield as the 18-year-old put in a man of the match display against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

The Chelsea youngster was excellent and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer revealed that Gilmour has some qualities that are missing in Jorginho.

Shearer told the BBC: “His awareness on the pitch for an 18 year old is incredible. You know what a lot of the time I’ve seen Chelsea this season yes they have good possession in Jorginho and the way he passes it but he hasn’t done what this young boy has done in terms of getting the ball and passing it forward. That’s his first thought.”

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was also full of praise for the youngster, and after the game, Ian Wright revealed how pleased was as well.

Reacting to the words of the legends, Gilmour said: “For them to say those kind of comments is amazing for me. But I’ve got to push on.”
