“For me it’s an option for me” – Pochettino says he’s considering to sign £51m top striker as Nicolas Jackson replacement

One player is at least being considered to start up front for Chelsea in the upcoming campaign, according to Mauricio Pochettino’s confirmation.

He revealed to PA Sport that the team is thinking about a player who many may perceive to be a bit of an outsider to take over as the new go-to guy in front of goal at Stamford Bridge.

On paper, Pochettino’s team has produced performances that should have placed them far higher in the standings, but they have lost out on a great deal of ground due to squandered opportunities.

Chelsea missing so many chances

Chelsea’s lack of consistency continued Friday night as they lost 5-0 at the Emirates under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

But the FA Cup semi-final this past weekend was a prime illustration of this, as Nicolas Jackson tragically missed a number of opportunities to score.

He is the team’s only recognized central striker at the moment; Romelu Lukaku is among the players who are out on loan.

The Belgian has scored 18 goals for Roma in all competitions this season, regaining his goal-scoring form.

This season, he has excelled especially in Europe, where he has already scored seven goals in the Europa League.

The club is allegedly seeking for a fee of approximately £51 million in order to eventually seal a permanent agreement for Lukaku this summer, as has been widely reported.

At Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino won’t rule out Romelu Lukaku

Pochettino, though, has declined to completely rule out the possibility that Lukaku will play for Chelsea once more.

He said: “He’s a Chelsea player, so for sure we will pay attention. It’s an option. But still we did not take any decision.”

The Blues are anticipated to get a new moniker this summer, as they have been linked to several choices to come in front of them at the end of the season.

Victor Osimhen has been linked to a move to Stamford Bridge on multiple occasions; however, the club is probably well aware of how pricey that transaction is going to be.
