Forget Eden Hazard! as Chelsea open transfer talks with €40m-rated Real Madrid player

The Blues are reportedly open to signing the Real Madrid centre-back for £34million, with Antonio Rudiger stalling to extend his Chelsea contract which expires at the end of the season.

However, according to Daily Star, Chelsea have already held talks with Spanish side Real Madrid about signing Eder Militao.

With the contracts of Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen also expiring at the end of the season, signing a centre-back is a top priority for Chelsea.

Following the departures of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane in the summer, Militao has become an integral part of Real Madrid’s defence, missing just three minutes of action this season.

The report on Daily Star also claims Real Madrid aren’t open to selling Militao and are instead planning to offer the Brazilian a new deal to raise his £74,000-per-week wages and extend his contract further beyond its current 2025 expiration.

It is also unlikely that a bid worth £34million would convince Real Madrid to sell Militao, as the Spanish side parted with £45million to sign him from Porto just two years ago.
