“Forget Gallagher” “This is the Chelsea best player by mile” – Gary Neville names 20-year-old man of the match in 3-1 win over Palace

He was Chelsea’s best player by a mile – Gary Neville names Chelsea player who impressed him against Palace. It’s not Gallagher

Gary Neville was left impressed by the contribution of one Chelsea star, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side cruised to a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night.

It was not Chelsea’s best display by any stretch, especially in the first half when Palace took the lead, and made it difficult for the Blues to register a single effort on goal.

Jefferson Lerma struck from distance to make it 1-0 for the hosts after 30 minutes, and it wasn’t until the second half that Chelsea found their rhythm.

Conor Gallagher scored Chelsea’s first goal after two minutes into the second-half, latching on to a brilliant cross from Malo Gusto to put the Blues level after some good work down the right by the Frenchman.

Gallagher later found the net again – this time, in the 91st minute, before Enzo Fernandez put the cherry on the cake with a wonderful finish to make it 3-1 to Chelsea.

Gallagher was deservedly named ‘Man of the Match’ after the game, but it was Gusto’s performance that caught the eyes of many, especially former Manchester United defender, Neville, who watched the game for Sky Sports.

On the right-back, the former England defender said: “I thought Gusto was Chelsea’s best player in the first half by a mile. He’s started the second half really well.”

Gusto joined Chelsea from French club, Lyon last year, for a fee believed to be around £30.7m. And the 20-year-old has done really well since the transfer, filling in brilliantly at right-back for the injured Reece James, and there is plenty of reason for us to believe that he will only get better with each game.
