Frank Lampard finally explains reason for starting Kepa against Liverpool

Kepa Arrizabalaga has sat out the last five games for Chelsea as the Blues boss Frank Lampard has chosen to favour second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero in goal.

Caballero has done decently when called upon, but hasn’t kept a clean sheet yet as Chelsea’s defensive issues continue.

Kepa was then recalled for the FA Cup clash against Liverpool, and Lampard explained his decision before the game as he insisted that he is doing what’s right for the team.

“I don’t want to make it political, it’s just a choice with the goalkeepers,” Lampard said before the match.

“I’ve said it all season we’ve two fantastic goalkeepers. It’s an opportunity to play at his best.

“I always go on training and results, I’ve got no doubts that he can come in and do a good job because of the player he is. It’s an opportunity to do well.”

Kepa went on to show the boss what he has been missing as he was outstanding against Liverpool. He looked very confident and made some massive saves.
