Frank Lampard provides triple injury update ahead of Arsenal clash
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has provided an injury update on Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech ahead of the Boxing Day Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The Blues have been without Ziyech for a number of weeks with a hamstring injury and Lampard has confirmed that he won’t recover in time to face the Gunners on Saturday.
Elsewhere, James is nursing a minor knee injury while Chilwell rolled his ankle in the recent victory over West Ham United. Lampard is unsure whether either player will return to action against the Gunners.
“Hakim Ziyech won’t be fit for Arsenal. They are both doubtful [James and Chilwell]. I can’t give you an answer at the moment. I’m not sure if they will be fit for either game,” He told via Chelseafc.com.
Chelsea are presently one point behind the top-four places. They ended a two-match losing streak with a 3-0 triumph over the Hammers and will be aiming to build momentum with another derby win at the Emirates.
