Frank Lampard sends strong warning to Chelsea as Blues set to seal £80m deal
Even if there are rumors that Chelsea is putting together a £60 million deal, Everton manager Frank Lampard claims that the Toffees have not yet received a new offer from the Blues.
Gordon has been a member of Lampard’s squad for Saturday’s game at Brentford, and the manager has been pleased with the way the 21-year-old has handled the rumors of a transfer.
However, Lampard has cautioned Chelsea to move swiftly if they want to sign Anthony Gordon as the deadline day draws nearer, giving Everton plenty of time to find a replacement.
“We have drawn a red line,” he said.
“It is very difficult. I got asked last week, “Will he be here at the end of the window?” It was an impossible question to answer, really. But I am working to try and put a squad together.
‘There absolutely has to come a time where we understand what the squad is going to be, especially a player of the level of Anthony.
“I have to know he is going be here and the good thing is here at the club, myself and everybody involved upstairs has the same kind of thinking.
“I won’t say where it (the cut-off point) is, but I think you understand I am getting very close to it.”
Chelsea have finally reached an agreement with Leicester City to sign Wesley Fofana.
The Blues had seen three bids rejected for Fofana, but a fourth bid has now finally been successful.
The third bid which was rejected earlier this week was worth £60million plus an extra £10m in add-ons.
Reports claim that the accepted bid for Fofana is a massive one.
According to reporter Nizaar Kinsella, the bid for Fofana might be a record fee for a defender.
The current most expensive defensive is Harry Maguire – with Manchester United having to pay Leicester City £80m for his transfer.
