French powerhouse confirms he will be at Chelsea by the end of the January transfer window
Olivier Giroud has confirmed that he will stay at Chelsea until at least the end of the season.
At the beginning of the new season, Giroud was barley given any game time and minutes, which led to alot of speculation that he would be one of the players that would be sold in the coming transfer window.
However, the Frenchman has been in sparkling form over the past few months and the feeling was that Frank Lampard was going to make sure that he stayed this month, despite the confirmed interest from Italian giants Juventus.
Now, Giroud has opened up and admitted that he is keen to win something with Chelsea this seasonh has pretty much ended any hopes that Juventus had of trying to sign the powerhouse over the next few weeks.
Speaking to Le Dauphine Libere about his situation, He said: “The ambition is to win something with Chelsea this season. The rest of my career, in the short term, I see it at Chelsea. Now we know that things are going very quickly in football, for good and bad [reasons]. I want to keep a cool head and concentrate on the pitch.
“My contract at Chelsea will end in June, even though I have the option to stay for another year. We will discuss it at the end of the year.
“But, once again, I have the ambition to win something with Chelsea this season because I have high hopes linked to the quality of our squad.”
It would not make sense for Chelsea to let their most dangerous striker leave in the transfer window, so this will come as some great news, as he will definitely help the club towards the back end of the season.
