Giroud finally reacts to Chelsea’s decision to sack Tuchel
Olivier Giroud, a former Chelsea striker, offered his opinion on the club’s decision to fire Thomas Tuchel.
Giroud was a member of Chelsea’s Champions League-winning team and contributed to Thomas Tuchel’s team’s triumph.
Giroud, who left Chelsea under Tuchel because he didn’t get enough playing time, has said that firing the German was a sad decision.
Asked about Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Tuchel, Giroud told Sky Sports News: “It’s part of football. It’s sad. I think Thomas has done a great job for Chelsea.”
Giroud who also featured for Arsenal, admitted he has been watching his former side.
Giroud added: “I’ve also been watching my Gooners. I think it’s going to be another interesting year for them.”
Quizzed if he believes Mikel Arteta can guide Arsenal to a top-four finish after last season’s Champions League setback, Giroud added: “Yes, definitely. I hope so.”
Having left Chelsea for AC Milan in the summer of 2021, Giroud has added the Italian Serie A title to his trophy haul.
The 35-year-old has won the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, Serie A and World Cup.
