Giroud’s replacement? As Chelsea set to make a potential move for Argentine striker in Summer
According to Daily Star, Chelsea are eyeing up a potential move for Mauro Icardi this summer amid doubts over his future at Inter Milan.
Despite Olivier Giroud’s impressive performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the Frenchman is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
The Blues have now identified Icardi as a potential replacement for Giroud after netting 19 goals in 28 appearances so far for his loan club PSG.
The 27 year old striker is on a season-long loan deal at PSG and the French club have an option to buy Icardi outright for £54m in the summer transfer window.
PSG are reportedly yet to decide to make Icardi’s move permanent and Chelsea are set to move for the Argentine striker if PSG fail to take up their option on the striker.
