“Give them some rest”- Chelsea fans beg Lampard to rest three key players ahead of CL game
Chelsea have played three games in the space of eight days as the fixtures continue to “choke” to football teams. Chelsea got an impressive win over Burnley in their last game on Saturday. The team seems to be in a good shape at the moment after securing two consecutive victories.
Lampard could be considered a happy man at the moment as the manager looked to have his first eleven now. After a busy summer transfer window, many are looking forward to see how Lampard could manage the superfluous quality in his disposal. However, in recent games Lampard has been very much predictable regarding his lineup.
Zouma, Kai Havertz, and Timo Werner have played almost full minutes in the last four games for Chelsea. All three players have started Chelsea’s recent games and it would be ideal to give them some rest.
Chelsea are set to face French side, Rennes in the Champions league on Wednesday. With the quality of Chelsea, it won’t be damaging for Lampard to bench these three players. Chelsea have got great quality at all areas of the pitch and there are similar alternatives that could be used instead of Havertz, Werner, and Zouma. Rudiger or Tomori could be brought in for Zouma, and the likes of Odoi, Mount, Ziyech, Tammy, and Giroud could form a formidable attacking force.
Considering the schedule of two games every five days, Chelsea could struggle with the fatigue of key players if they continue to play them every minute. The game against Rennes should be an easy ride for Chelsea even without Zouma, Havertz, and Werner.
