GOOD NEWS: Chelsea starlet set to make Stamford Bridge return this summer

Chelsea supporters have seen a familiar face in the Red Bull Leipzig side on Wednesday night as they faced Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

Ethan Ampadu, who joined the German outfit on loan at the start of the term, was handed a rare start at the heart of the defence with a host of players unavailable.

Time on the pitch has been hard for the ace to come by this term and his appearance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was only his seventh for the Bundesliga title-chasers.

Making an impression at Chelsea following his move from Exeter City, Ethan will be hoping he is the next talent to force his way into Frank Lampard’s plans with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount currently thriving in west London.

With Die Roten Bullen until the end of the campaign, Wales international has outlined his plans once his time at the club comes to an end.

“I am always watching Chelsea and seeing what is going on,” Ethan said after the game. “It is good to see the young players are shining at the moment. They are in the top four so fingers crossed they can hold on to that.

“I would like to go back, I aim to, but right now I am focused on Leipzig and finishing the season.”

The Blues would definitely have liked their man to have played more out in Bundesliga but Ampadu has indicated that he’s learning despite his lack of minutes.

“I have not played as much as I would have liked to, but I am definitely learning in training and working hard,” added the versatile defender.

“[Jose] Mourinho said it, the quality of our play might goes under-rated because people might not know the name of Leipzig so much but hopefully people saw that we have a lot of quality.”
