Chelsea fans are convinced Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell is close to joining Chelsea after the England international was left out of the Leicester squad against Burnley.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is a huge fan of the Leicester City star and is keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge. Leicester City boss Rodgers explained why Chilwell wasn’t part of the Leicester City squad against Burnley. Rodgers said: “Ben’s (Chilwell) played an awful lot of games this season with international games and this week as well, he was unavailable for some training.”
Despite the explanation provided by Rodgers, Chelsea fans believe the club is close to signing Chilwell. One Chelsea fan said, according to The Sun: “Is Ben Chilwell trying to force a move? lcfc“
Another added: “Ben Chilwell have been sidelined from Leciester squad today… Neither is he injured or having personal issues. Stay tuned cfc“
A third fan added: “Chilwell’s leaving then #chelsea.” “Ben Chilwell soon to Chelsea,” another added.
While Chelsea fans are convinced the Blues are close to signing Chilwell, Lampard revealed after the loss against Newcastle United that he knows the part of the squad he wants to strengthen. “If we are looking for people to bring in to the areas to win games when you are controlling it, it is scoring goals,” he told Sky Sports.
“We need to be clinical and we can’t make any bones about that. I’m pleased with the players we’ve got but we can’t work any more in training on finishing. “We need that killer instinct in front of goal. We need to score more goals if we want to get to where we need to get.”
