‘Great partner for Thiago Silva – brilliant man-marker – world class’ Chelsea interested in £70M deal
According to latest reports, Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez is reportedly now a player that Chelsea scouts are watching as the Londoners plan for life after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
However, Chelsea fans now all know that both Rudiger and Christensen are leaving the club at the end of the season on free deals after they both failed to agree new contracts that would keep them at the club.
Christensen has reportedly agreed a four-year deal to sign with Barcelona, while Rudiger has agreed a massive £200,000-a-week deal to sign Real Madrid, a move that many are not happy with.
Thomas Tuchel is a man that now knows that he will need to sign some world class replacements, and there has been alot of speculation that the German is interested in bringing Gomez to Stamford Bridge.
Gimenez is fast becoming one of the most solid defenders in the game right now and is attracting all sorts of interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG for his very impressive performances in that Madrid shirt.
The Uruguayan has been at Atletico Madrid since 2013 and won his second La Liga title with the club this last, and has now clocked up 245 appearances for Atleti since moving to Spain in 230.
He has a very high price tag that Chelsea would have to meet and pay, roughly around the £70 million mark, and would need some convincing that a move to the Premier League would be the best option for him.
However, Gimenez is a player that is on another level and a player that would be a great partner for Thiago Silva, and an immediate replacement for the departing Rudiger.
