“He didn’t make a mistake by letting him go” – John Barnes defends Tuchel decision on Chelsea player
Tammy Abraham was a key player for Chelsea under Frank Lampard, but he didn’t get enough play time when Thomas Tuchel was appointed.
However, Abraham was eventually sold off to Roma last summer, and he has been in fine form for the Italian side under Jose Mourinho.
Many Chelsea fans weren’t happy with the sale of the former academy product, and fans even feel that he’s better than the current Chelsea strikers.
However, Liverpool legend John Barnes believes that it was better for Abraham to have left Chelsea.
Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Chelsea didn’t make a mistake by letting Tammy Abraham go, despite the fact he’s scored more than all their strikers combined this season.
“Abraham wasn’t scoring for Chelsea. Just because a player is doing well elsewhere doesn’t mean a club made a mistake in letting them go.
“Obviously, the club he’s currently at, Roma just suits him more.
“Arsenal didn’t make a mistake in moving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on, just because he’s scored six goals in seven games for Barcelona. It just wasn’t happening for Tammy at Chelsea.”
