“He has to be playing for Chelsea” “He fits Chelsea system” – Jose Mourinho tells Chelsea to sign £190,000K a-week  attacker

Heung-min Son is talented enough, in the opinion of former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho, to be a member of one of the “best teams” in world football.

Son, 31, paid €30 million to join Spurs in 2015, and even though he hasn’t yet won a club championship, he has grown to be a fan favorite in north London.

During his tenure at Tottenham, the South Korean international was one of Mourinho’s main players, and the “Special One” thinks Son is talented enough to regularly contend for championships.

Mourinho told EA Sports FC Online (via The Evening Standard): “I look at Son as one of the best players in the world.

“Maybe Tottenham supporters, they are not going to be happy with what I’m going to say, it’s not of course disrespectful. He [Son] could win titles, he could play for the best teams.

“He could be playing in England for Man City, for Liverpool, for Chelsea. It could be abroad, playing in one of the top teams.

“He has this modern mobility of the attacking players. He can play through the middle, he can play from the sides, can be wide, to come inside. Can be inside.”

Heung-min Son to Chelsea?
Chelsea succumbed to their lowest ever finishing position in the Premier League era during a dismal campaign in 2022-23 (12th), but Mourinho still rates the Blues as one of England’s very top teams.

Furthermore, a late season resurgence under Mauricio Pochettino means Chelsea have been widely tipped to overtake Tottenham and finish fifth this year, amid the worrying recent form of Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, Son was named Spurs captain last summer and is therefore unlikely to jump ship and join their London rivals anytime soon. But, his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is due to expire in 2025, meaning an exit of some kind is plausible within the next 12 months.
