‘He is out of contract! Tuchel gives honest admission on Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea future after Spurs win
Antonio Rudiger, who scored the winner against Tottenham Hotspur, has less than six months left on his Chelsea contract and can leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season.
However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel gave a positive update on Antonio Rudiger’s Chelsea future following the 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all indicated interest in signing Rudiger as a free agent at the end of the season.
However, Tuchel has revealed he’s confident Rudiger will remain a Chelsea player because the Blue have things to offer the German international.
Tuchel told Sky Sports: “Everybody knows [the situation – he is out of contract at the end of the season], let’s wait and see.
“Of course [we are confident of keeping him]. We have things to offer and he is the player he is in a Chelsea shirt and a Chelsea environment. He knows that very well.”
Meanwhile, Tuchel was unhappy with Chelsea’s performance against Tottenham despite the 1-0 victory.
He added: “We have to meet the standards. It is why we work for Chelsea and play for Chelsea. Nothing else matters.
“It is not about just getting a result; we can play much better. We can close spaces much better, be better in defence, individually, control the match better and make fewer mistakes. In any aspect we can do better and we must do better.”
