‘He told me he wants Chelsea move’: Gary Neville reveals what €75m Chelsea target told him
According to Gary Neville, Frenkie de Jong would prefer to join Chelsea this summer over Manchester United.
The Red Devils tried desperately to sign the Netherlands international before the new season to bolster their midfield, which has been the subject of months of rumors.
The player, who is allegedly owed a sizable portion of his Barcelona wages, has been adamant that he does not want to work on Erik ten Hag’s project.
The Catalan club has been adamant that De Jong must leave the organization; according to reports, they must have his departure before they can officially register some of their recent acquisitions.
Neville thinks the player would prefer a move to London over a move to his beloved United team because it has been reported that Barcelona has also offered the player to Chelsea.
However, Neville claims De Jong would prefer Chelsea:
Neville tweeted: “I was in Miami when Barca were there playing two weeks ago and I got told ( third hand ) De Jong preferred staying at Barca or Chelsea and London,”
“Wasn’t a concrete source but this follows that thought.”
The Blues have the ability to offer the Dutchman Champions League football next season, following their third place finish.
