‘He will bite you and you will regret it’ – Pep Guardiola receive strong warning about Chelsea top target
Raheem Sterling, a standout for Manchester City, has been linked to Chelsea, and a transfer is rumored to be on the horizon.
Due to recent arrivals to Man City’s attack, it is thought that Sterling himself is interested in joining Chelsea as his spot in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the upcoming season is in doubt.
Prior to the 2015–16 season, Man City spent about £49 million to purchase Sterling from Liverpool, but with only one year left on his deal, the 27-year-old is seen as replaceable.
Four times as a City player, the Englishman won the Premier League, tallying 131 goals in 339 games in all competitions.
Shay Given, a former goalkeeper for Manchester City, claims that the Sterling deal could backfire on Pep Guardiola as Chelsea moves closer to completing the acquisition of the player.
Given continues to think highly of Sterling and believes that he would not be content with his recent circumstances at the Etihad.
Given told talkSPORT: “He’s a top player, but for whatever reason in the last 12 or 18 months him and Pep, have not fallen out, but he’s just not started every game,”
“Sterling is a player that strikes me that would not be happy coming off the bench and being a bit-part player in the last six or seven months.
“Will he come back and bite Pep, maybe? That’s the thing from a City point of view, do you think he will come back and score a goal towards the end of the season that wins the league for Chelsea.
“He’s a top player, but with 12 months left £50million is still a lot of money. With the Financial Fair Play, City have to balance the books and they are still trying to bring in players as well.
“It might fit well for both clubs.”
