“He’ll leave us next summer” – Chelsea given another ‘greenlight’ to sign Bundesliga world class player

Despite signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig Chelsea has been given greenlight to sign another RB Leipzig player next summer.

However, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano this January but the Germans are only willing to do business next summer.

The 22 year old French defender is one of the hottest young talents with plenty of top clubs chasing his signature including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Upamecano won’t leave RB Leipzig in January but the defender will be allowed to leave at the end of the season.

Romano tweeted: “RB Leipzig are not open to sell Dayot Upamecano in January. He’s expected to leave the club next summer – many clubs interested and set to open talks with his agent. The release clause value is €42m.”

Upamecano reportedly has a release clause of around £40million.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard reportedly sees the 22 year old France international as a long-term replacement for Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.
