“He’s a Gem” “Best in his position” – Jody Morris believes Chelsea have one of the best players in the world in his position
Former Chelsea player and coach Jody Morris has now claimed that the club already have a first team player who is one of the best in his world in his position.
He told ‘No Tippy Tappy Football’ that he believes club captain Reece James is one of the top right-backs in world football when fit and available for his side.
James has had another nightmare campaign so far when it comes to injuries, with this one happening in the first season where he has been named captain of the club.
Only a handful of games have come in between regular long injuries, and this has led Mauricio Pochettino to have to look elsewhere.
He has found a gem in Malo Gusto though, with the 20-year-old proving he is more than good enough to start for the Blues in recent weeks.
The Frenchman’s performance earlier this week was arguably an underrated one based on how good Enzo Fernandez was. He was easily one of the most important players on the pitch that night.
Morris calls James one of the best
Chelsea fans will not have forgotten just how good James is though, with Morris having experience coaching the England international at Stamford Bridge.
He has now said that he believes the 24-year-old can play for any team in the world when he is fit and firing.
He said: “Reece [James] when he is fit is one of the best right backs in the world and he can play in any team.”
James underwent surgery off the back of the most recent issue, with there now being hopes that he will be able to finally put an end to his torrid luck.
However, he will certainly not be available for the club’s biggest game of the season this month when they take on Liverpool at Wembley in the EFL Cup final.
