According to reports, Frank Lampard has strengthened every area of the team this summer, but one place he is yet to strengthen is his defensive midfield position.
The Blues boss have signed a new goalkeeper, a top left-back, an experienced centre-back in Thiago Silva, a creative attacking midfielder in Kai Havertz, a dazzling winger in Hakim Ziyech and a top forward in Timo Werner. However, Frank Lampard is still keen on signing a new defensive midfielder.
Lampard wants a deep playmaker in that defensive midfield position – someone who can defend and also start the attack with a nice range of passing, a quality he doesn’t see in Jorginho and N’Golo Kante.
Lampard is still keen on playing Kante higher up the pitch, and reports have it that the Chelsea manager isn’t yet done with the transfer market.
With Ross Barkley having left on loan, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek expected to leave, Chelsea fans now believe that former academy product Declan Rice will be joining the club this summer.
