He’s one of the best finishers in the world – Paul Merson tells Chelsea to signs 24-goals a season world class striker
This summer, Chelsea will need to add a striker. Since the end of the previous season, one of Chelsea’s biggest issues has been scoring goals.
Romelu Lukaku, who came from Inter Milan for a club-record £97.5 million sum, has been released by the Blues.
Lukaku has now made his way back to Inter Milan, and Chelsea is eager to sign a successor.
Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Paul Merson, will collaborate with the two Chelsea wing-backs, and he has pushed Chelsea to sign him.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Chelsea need a centre forward you’ve got two of the best wing-backs in world football, maybe even three now with Cucurella coming in.”
“They play so far up the pitch. It’s not like when you’re playing for Manchester United where you’re playing from the halfway line.
“You play at Stamford Bridge and right from kick off, the amount of time the Chelsea wing backs get the ball down the side and you whip that ball in for Ronaldo he hasn’t got to run anywhere he hasn’t got to run from halfway and beat three players.
“Put the ball in the box and you’re talking about one of the best finishers in the world you don’t get 800 goals if you can’t finish.
“He won’t have to do a lot of running and I just think it ticks the box for me and it’s a no-brainer for a year.”
However, Ronaldo has played 38 matches in his 2021-22 campaign and scored 24 goals, including two hat-tricks.
