David Luiz had two different stints at Chelsea where he spent three years apiece, and played for French giants Paris Saint-Germain in between.
Luiz currently plays for Chelsea rivals Arsenal, having made a summer transfer deadline move to the Gunners.
Luiz was a fan’s favourite at Stamford Bridge, but he has subsequently killed his image with a move to the Emirates.
Luiz has now named his previous club Benfica, as the club closest to his heart and has revealed that he wants to play there very soon.
“I always said that I would like to end my career at Benfica,” the Brazilian told Benfica’s official website.
“In football everything changes, what is true today, tomorrow is a lie, but my feeling is not! I love Benfica. My dream is to step on the pitch of Estadio da Luz in their colours.
“For all that I lived and felt, for what Benfica is in my life and in my history, for everything, Benfica is bigger than any player.” Luiz turned 33 last month and will have one year left on his contract at the end of the season.
