Frank Lampard managing Chelsea after a successful playing career at the club, which other current Blues players are best suited to one day becoming a head coach?

However, Frank Lampard is treading on a path previously set by Roberto Di Matteo at Chelsea – a former player going on to become manager.

More and more Premier League clubs are appointing former players as managers – with seven current managers in charge of a side they used to play for. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is another example of a fan favourite taking to the dugout.

While fans will hope that Lampard’s reign is long and successful, we looked into four current Chelsea players who may one day succeed their boss.

Meanwhile In an interview with Sky, Calum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek both linked Azpi with a career in management, as did Eden Hazard.

Loftus-Cheek said, “He’s the most professional player I’ve seen and he is a good captain. I say he could go on to become a manager.”

Hazard added, “I think he talks a lot about football. I think a manager (role) is more for defenders – or midfielders. Wingers or strikers are not good managers, apart from Zidane.”
