‘He’s very strong, I would like to have him in my team’ — Tuchel confirms love for £40m-rated French midfielder
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel had previously admitted that he would love to have in his PSG team at the time was Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga — and now he might have the opportunity to sign him at Chelsea.
The 18-year-old is reportedly set for a summer move away from Rennes, and is catching interest from many top clubs.
Meanwhile, according to Le Parisien journalist Julien Laurens, Chelsea are one of the four clubs currently in the transfer race for the young midfielder.
The French journalist has also revealed that Chelsea have been in contact with Camavinga’s agent, Jonathan Barnett for some time now.
Meanwhile, let’s look back at the statement made by the current Chelsea boss about Camavinga just a year ago.
“Would I like to have him on my team? Yes, of course,” Tuchel said about the rumours about Camavinga’s potentially joining PSG last summer.
“But I can’t talk about other players, who are not from my team.
“He’s one of the best players in Ligue 1.
“He’s a great player, very strong, with a great future. But he also plays in a great team which plays in the Champions League.
“But that’s not how it goes, it’s not Monopoly!
“I’m not going to say not to recruit him, but that’s not how it goes.”
Camavinga is currently valued at £40m and has two years left in his contract with Rennes.
