‘His mind is not at Chelsea again, he wants to go’ — Pundit reveals why Chelsea player will leave Chelsea this summer
The Blues signed Romelu Lukaku for a massive £100m fee, and the Belgian was expected to be the club’s big name signing that will bang in the goals this season.
Seen as the team’s missing piece, Lukaku has rather been missing peace since he moved to Stamford Bridge.
The goals have long dried up, and he hasn’t looked his best in any way since an early season form. Things got bad for the Belgian after his controversial interview with Sky Italia, where he blamed Thomas Tuchel for his predicament.
The dust surrounding the controversial interview have long died down, but Lukaku’s form hasn’t picked up, with his only goal since that incident coming in the 5-1 FA Cup victory over Cheltenham.
Former Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has backed Lukaku to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, and believes that the Belgian is unhappy at the club.
Speaking on the BBC Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker said:
“It’s never going to be the same. We are never going to know what’s happened, unless you are in that room with Tuchel and Lukaku at the training ground.
“That relationship can’t be mended. I think, for me, he wants to go and it’s difficult because it’s going to reflect on his football.
“He already believes the team don’t play to his strengths. So, it’s a difficult one. You can already see that he hasn’t really been the same.
“We are not seeing the same Lukaku who was literally destroying, manhandling Serie A players for Inter Milan.
“For me, that’s more of a mental thing and that’s going to be a tough thing where Chelsea are going to have to revaluate everything at the end of the season.”
